The Door of Truth

Written by James Record in 2009.

You’re shown the door,
But it’s for you to walk through it,
The door is locked, you ring the bell,
And wait for the reply to it.

Don’t ever open the door of truth,
You’ll only be afraid,
The truth it hurts,
Opinions change,
But the truth it stays the same.

Sometimes it’s better to be in denial,
At least you’re happy enough,
Your ignorance can be your friend,
It can also make your life rough.

If you fear you will regret,
Then make sure you lock the door,
Adam may have released the sin,
But Eve did so much more.

Don’t ever open the door of truth,
You’ll only be afraid,
The truth it hurts,
Opinions change,
But the truth it stays the same.

Don’t shatter your dreams,
To find there’s worse to come,
At least you have one thing left,
That’s that you could always play dumb.

But who’s to say it might be fun,
You’ll never know the truth,
It might be better than you fear,
Optimism may save this youth.
